The chickens have now came home to roost! Seems at UMC, Million Dollar Man, Valenti has broken out his ax and has the Children's Hospital on his chopping block. Yep, Valenti was among many other local politicians, Community leaders and activist that championed this boondoggle.
Now it's a hot potato on Valenti's plate and he wants it off, then again maybe not.
The Children's Hospital was sold to El Paso with the claims that with Foster donation and funding from the state would cover the cost and that it would not cost the people of El Paso and the county a dime. With not the same fanfare and boisterous voices, as for Children's Hospital, the expansion of UMC would cost. With the envisioned expansions of UMC and the Children's Hospital there would be paying patronage from Mexico also the coming of Health care, Health technology, Drug businesses to El Paso. With paying customers from Mexico and with the tax base expansion, by these industries, would also cover cost.
Remember this got started and voter approved in 2006 and it is now more than eight years later.
Well basically the large volume of patronage from Mexico never materializer, at least not in paying form, and the migration of companies to El Paso, in support of UMC expansion and the Children's Hospital, has not taken place.
Yes there was a small group of people in El Paso that tried to tell the chuckleheads that this was a vey bad idea and what was being claimed was pie in the sky non sense. We pretty much were brush off to put it in a nice way. Yep, we can now say we told you so!
If any one has really been keeping up with UMC then you know that UMC has their own debt issue out side the debt issue with the Children's Hospital. Million Dollar Man Valenti may want to keep the Children's Hospital debacle going to take the focus off the UMC debt fiasco. Also his minions and his golden bonus issues.
On a side note do you notice that none of those that championed this bovine fecal matter are speaking up and are being real silent on the issue. Wonder why since they were so bellicose at times to it's support?
Any who I went and ask questions at the county and it now seem the expectations for the businesses to come to El Paso to support UMC and Children's we are looking at around twenty years before this gets to rocking and will pan out. At least that seems to be the projection.
I do not think the Children's Hospital will survive that long before this can save the Children's Hospital.
As to what I'm getting there may be some on the CCC and Vero that maybe wanting to pull out the big tax stick once again and beat us with it in an attempt to save the Children's Hospital.
So please take some time out of your day to address this important community issue about UMC and the Children's Hospital with the CCC and Valenti. It will take not more than five or ten minutes to send an e-mail or maybe make a telephone call.
I do not care if you side with me on this issue or not but please do make your voices be heard by our elected officials on the matter and Valenti. There will be a meeting on the issue by the CCC this Thursday.
Please do pass these telephone numbers and e-mail addresses around to family and friends. Make a difference, let your voice be heard and let our leadership known we are watching.
