As much as I hate to admit this I was listening to Greg and Gene's show this morning and they aired a recording of a call that Ken Hudnal (not sure how his name's spelled, he's the afternoon call-in show host) got from some staffer for Sly Reyes. This guy was upset, I guess, at Ken for things Ken said about Reyes. The caller accused Ken of leaking info and even made it a point to mention a medical condition that Ken suffers from. It was really offensive. Did anyone else catch this?

No I missed it, but this has been the buzz lately on all the 690am shows.
Even today on BPs show with SR on live it came up and was dismissed. Old SR just does not know how to handle tough questions. Even funnier I caught a segment today where David Crowder of NPT called in and basically asked SR - So with Ken saying that when he delivered checks to your office for NCED you treated him well, now that he doesn't have the checks you dismiss him. How many checks did you receive from Luther Jones through Ken, and secondly why did you never notice there were no disabled people at NCED?
Barb came to his rescue saying she toured NCED too and saw disabled people because it was aset up (same answer as SR). Crowder countered with - it they employed 4000 people and by law 75% had to be disabled - did you see 3000 disabled people? As to the check - SR said he'd have to check his records and again in ride BP - David you know Luther gave checks to everyone now hang up and go write your story for NPT.
It was funny

It's well known that SR's lackeys will do anything, no matter how nasty or unprincipled, to protect the cookie jar they have in SR.
But hey, SR is a Democrat in a Democratic community, and has the political machine and all of its might behind him. Unless and until you can catch him red-handed in something illegal or downright scandelous, you can't really touch him... maybe you can't even touch him then.

Wow, Snil, Crowder calling in to Babs show and harassing Silver. I'm sorry I missed that. Yeah I heard on the recording Kens mentioning that he was treated well until he stopped delivering those fat checks. I tell you I really don't listen to talk radio that much so I don't know much about Ken but I sure liked what he said on that recording. It took guts. Sly's guy was practically threatening him and saying that Ken has some sort of medical condition and that he's on 100% disability. Things that are nobody's business. Most uncool. I'll have to watch for Crowder's write up.
BTW welcome Gadfly. What I'm wondering is if Sly knew his guy was going to make that call b/c it sure didn't make him look good.

Silver isn't a Democrat. He says he is because he now has to live with the label. He followed the advice of pragmatics and ran as a Democrat because he was afraid he wouldn't get elected otherwise. That's the magic ticket in certain areas around here.
Surely you guys know he's got this following around here. A cadre of "soldiers"? I didn't hear the show, and I think it took guts for Hudnall to say what he did, but it doesn't surprise me that someone stepped in and started making personal attacks as a means of distracting attention from the issues Hudnall wanted to discuss.
My only problem with this whole thing is the position Crowder is taking on now....? Where was all of his investigative acumen then?

Please don't label Reyes anything but a Democrat. The Republican Party in this town has enough issues we do not want him as well. Let's use the local vernacular and call him a Progressive OK?

There's a Republican party in this town? Actually, Rosa, it doesn't surprise me necessarily that a member of Silver's staff called Ken with some tacit threats. What surprises me is that it happened on the air. I mean who thought that was a good idea?

Nope because all those "Progressives" are really closet Republicans with an axe to grind ;D I tried all morning to make it fit but the peg kept popping out, snil ;D

It was funny It sounds like it was a funny exchange, but certainly not "fresh" radio. I'm kind of disappointed in Barbara-she used to have a bite on her for this sort of ugly behavior, but I guess I'm not surprised she stuck to the party on this one. This is far from the first time I've heard about Silver's inability to handle critical questions, or criticism in general. And this by no means lets Crowder off the hook, in my opinion.

Ever notice how often Silver posts press releases in the Times announcing federal grant funds being awarded in El Paso? He likes to imply that he had something to do with the money coming in, even when he had nothing to do with it at all.
