Here is my question. As a commissioner, did Larry Medina have a say in selecting Blumenfeld as the HACEP legal counsel? In any event if at the HACEP Blumenfeld answers to Medina, and at the same time Medina answers to Blumenfeld at the Law firm (I notice medina's name is not on the letterhead of the firm (per the ad) this is clearly a conflict.
Why is this type of inter-connection of interests so dam pervasive (apparently to me anyway) in El Paso?

Why is this type of inter-connection of interests so dam pervasive (apparently to me anyway) in El Paso? politics are very "clique-ish" in El Paso, Snil. I think it is and was a conflict and frankly, I've heard a lot of this kind of thing where Medina is concerned, so it's no surprise to me. What I'd like to know is why the mayor didn't do anything about it when Medina was still on the board at HACEP. He would have to have known, especially since he and Medina are known to be friends. Then again, I can't really believe I even bother to ask that question, considering everything that has happened at HACEP since Medina was replaced, the new board installed.

The more I think about this question, the more it takes on a life of its own, and a very disturbing one at that because you make a very good point

What gets me is the hypocrisy of Kenna Ramirez and Larry Medina for pushing for HUD's Office of the Inspector General to investigate another HACEP commissioner (Jaime Rubenstein) for possible conflict of interest and other supposed improper acts, when they were also both apparently guilty of some of the same types of acts and conflicts. Talk about throwing stones when you live in a glass house! Or pots calling the kettles black. Or "my farts don't stink, but yours are horrible!"
OK, I will stop with the cliches.[/quote]
You know, I remember when Medina and Ramirez were ousted, they made news for the noise they were making. But what I don't remember is either ever accepting responsibility for these kinds of things. Is there anything that stands out in your mind?
and by the way, yeah, that last one was pretty bad :P :)
