Housing Authority to receive $12.7 million in stimulus money Candi M. Lopez / El Paso Times Posted: 02/27/2009 09:57:41 AM MST
EL PASO -- The city Housing Authority will receive $12.7 million from the federal stimulus package, city executives said Friday. "This will increase job opportunities, update the aging public housing infrastructure and greatly improve the quality of life for all El Paso residents," Mayor John Cook said in a statement.
The money is contained in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which President Obama signed into law two days ago.

I am wondering how this money will actually be used and how much transparency the taxpayers will see considering all the stories that have come out of HACEP about Cichon
what we can read from publications like NPT and the El Paso Times is pretty limited, considering the influence coming from editorial privilege
I know people who have submitted requests for more information and have been stonewalled for information that is a matter of public record, and I don't think this is supposed to happen
