Sometimes, I am amazed at the levels of ignorance and cruelty some people seem happy to display. I think the comment following this story speaks for itself

EL PASO, Texas -- As she sat down for an interview with KFOX, tears streamed down her face. The tears come from a concerned mother, Bertha Patt, who said she only wants to know one thing.
" I want to know what happened to my child," said Patt.
Her daughter is in the seventh grade at Eastwood Middle School. On Nov. 4th, she said she got a phone call from the school telling her something happened with her daugher, but she said officials didn't tell her exactly what happened.
It wasn't until a week later she said an detective told her this:
“Savannah didn't want to sit down. I was told that the teacher came behind Savannah and kicked her to make her sit down," Patt said.
What concerns her even more, is that her daughter has Down syndrome and suffers from seizures.
"The fall could trigger a seizure. I mean, I just brush her hair and it triggers a seizure," Patt said.
She said she doesn't know for sure if her child fell in the incident because she said she hasn't been able to get an official report. And her daughter can't tell her side of the story, Patt said the child doesn't speak.
“I called the school, they won't tell me anything," Patt told KFOX.
Ysleta Independent School District officials refused to give KFOX an on-camera interview, but in a statement they said that the teacher is on paid administrative leave while they conduct an investigation.
El Paso Police confirmed they are investigating as well.
Patt showed the KFOX crew a letter from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. It showed that there was "reason to believe" the abuse happened.
She also received a letter from the assistant city attorney. That letter stated that the city attorney's office was waiting on an opinion from the state attorney general.
So for now, she just waits.
"And what's so sad, is there's no help for me here," she said.

No sympathy here - The amount of taxes she (and/if her husband) pay aren't sufficient to cover the cost of a 'special' needs child. "Main-streaming" a child that severely retarded (cannot talk or obey) is a parental abuse; the child should be in a setting, at the parents' expense, where she they can be schooled. Besides, at that age, if the parents were doing their job, the child should be able to obey simple commands. People who are not yet parents should ask themselves if they have the right to inflict such burdens on others, however willing they are themselves to take their share of the burden in the beginning. The parents set this situation up and now the mother is crying for sympathy. While we're Socializing medicine, let's socialize a few other things so no one has any responsibility.
