El Paso dogs now TV stars El Paso Times Staff Posted: 02/02/2010 12:00:00 AM MST (Times file photo)EL PASO -- El Paso is really going to the dogs -- on TV anyway. The National Geographic Channel program "Dog Town" will feature Animal Rescue League of El Paso, a no-kill shelter, on Friday night. Check your programming for times. "Dog Town" showcases pets that have been abandoned or neglected and their road to rehabilitation and eventually adoption. After seeing the program, Executive Director Loretta Hyde called the show for guidance, and in return she got some one-on-one help. "We called to see if they'd be willing to work with dogs that we've had more more than a year," she said. "Since our philosophy is so close to theirs, they thought it would be worthy of giving us that extra expertise on behavior and adoptions." Sherry Woodard, one of the show's behavior and training consultants, came to El Paso. She helped Animal Rescue's staff train 10 dogs. Since the training, all but three have been adopted, Hyde said. Animal Rescue League is open for adoptions from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. www.elpasotimes.com/entertainment/ci_14312110
