France's Senate has overwhelmingly approved a bill that would ban wearing the Islamic full veil in public. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11305033There are valid competing interests here. I could be glib and say I support the ban because Amnesty International opposes it. The truth though, is that I see both sides. On one hand, I don't think the government should be involved in what folks wear, so long as it's worn voluntarily. On the other, face coverings do seem to, at least, symbolize oppression of women. It'll be interesting to see if this goes into effect after their Constitutional court reviews it.
