She looks like she could have played in the series Band of Brothers when they liberated a camp. Disgusting that she does this by choice

these kinds of websites are still up and doing well. I sometimes wonder just how much of this kind of stuff really is connected to some kind of illness--starving yourself like this has got to affect your thinking at one level or another I just read in the link that someone was claiming this could be related to her Macedonian hertiage

I think it has more to do with her model hertitage. I agree with you guys. It doesn't look good to me, but she made it to the finals of that pageant so someone liked what they saw. So here's the question, with all the efforts out there now to promote a healthy body image for girls, why is someone so clearly malnourished like this lady is, still rewarded? BTW I'm not intending to villify the contestant at all for doing what she thinks she needs to do to win. Obviously she's on to something.

very good point, Web. She made it to the finals, so why is she still rewarded?
and the answers are frustrating, especially when you have girls and you watch them go through what you did as a girl

Didn't Italy or France recently pass a law banning models who were too skinny

I'm in no position to determine that with any authority but it is certainly probable.

I'll bet you were really good at dodge ball in school. It's "certainly probable" what? That she's healthy? What makes it probable as opposed merely possible? 'Cause I gotta tell you, I think it's more probable that she's starving herself in an unhealthy way.

Seeing as how she is getting through a life full of far more obligations than the average teen just fine, it is probable that she is healthy. A professional wouldn't make a diagnosis without testing; I certainly won't.
And I think you are really stretching to equate beauty (what looks good to you) with healthy. Bound feet look good to some people.

Some times things are exactly as they seem to be. I know starvation when I see it and, no, it ain't pretty. Honestly I'm glad she didn't win. I'd hate for anyone to emulate her.

Starvation is not a body type. I would hate for anyone to attempt to change their natural body type because someone doesn't think it looks healthy.

So what would be her body type? Skeletal? Emaciated? Heroin Chic? She's 5ft 11inches and weighs 108 pounds. That speaks for itself. She's as obviously unhealthy as those that are morbidly obese. Let's get real here. If she weighed 400 pounds she wouldn't make it past the first round in the pageant. This is the exact same thing except it's the other end of the spectrum. I guess we're just more willing to recognize the problem when a person is overweight as opposed to ridiculously underweight.
